      YOUTUBE goes beyond HD

World's most popular most video streaming website YOUTUBE started supporting full HD videos just 8-9 months back. and now it is taking a step further to support videos upto 4K resolution (ie. 4096x3112 resolution)
      What is 4K resolution.??
To illustrate the power of 4K, please check out the videos in this playlist; each one was created by a filmmaker with access to a 4K camera. (Be warned: watching videos in 4K, even on YouTube, will require ultra-fast high-speed broadband connections).
To view any video in a source resolution greater than 1080p, select "Original" in the video quality pulldown menu:

You usually find 4K resolution videos in the movie theaters, that utilize a 25-feet wide display to exhibit the huge resolution.

According to YouTube engineer, Ramesh Sarukkai,
“…we support original video resolution from 360p all the way up to 4K. To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet; IMAX movies are projected through two 2k resolution projectors.”

      "Free Recharge" Scam on Orkut

Alert if you're looking for a free recharge code on Orkut. Scammers are tricking Orkut users into pasting malicious JavaScript code in their browser's address bar, with the promise of receiving a free recharge code for their mobile phones. Users who fall for the scam end up with their Google login credentials stolen.
It all starts with users receiving a link on Orkut that takes them to a website displaying a big banner that reads: "Recharge your mobile here!" According to information presented on this page, the user will receive a free recharge code in their Orkut scrapbook if they copy and paste some JavaScript code into the address bar.

Doing so will force the browser to access a shortened URL. "That triggers a big page of javascript code located at orkutaddict(dot)net/freerecharge/dpd(dot)js. At this point, the path branches off depending on whether you’re logged into Orkut or not,"

If you're not login to your Google account or Okrut, you'll see a JavaScript alert instructing to log in to Orkut account in order to receive the promised free code that recharges their call credit. After closing this alert, you'll be taken to a phishing page displaying a fake Google Account sign-in form. And you'll loose your Google/Orkut account details at this point. Such type of Orkut scan is popular in India.
Dont Click on any such  links in orkut few examples are shown below.

GOOGLE closing off support for IE6

This has not been the greatest start to the year for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser.Days after news of the latest security flaw in Internet Explorer, Google is phasing out support for IE6 for two of its Google Apps products, Docs and Sites.
For both the consumer and enterprise versions of Google Docs and Sites, the only browsers that will be fully compatible are Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0+, Mozilla Firefox 3.0+, Google Chrome 4.0+ and Safari 3.0+. The phase out will take place beginning March 1. While you’ll still be able to access Docs and Sites from IE6, you will have restricted functionality and many features won’t work, making the applications for the most part useless. We hear that Google will be phasing out IE6 support for the remainder of Google’s major products, including Gmail and Calendar, over the coming year. This isn’t Google’s first move to phases out IE6 functionality for its products. Last July, the search giant began phasing out YouTube support for the Microsoft browser. For users of IE6, the online video site began pointing to ‘modern’ browsers like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.5 as alternatives. A similar prompt will now take place on Docs and Sites for users who are browsing from IE6.

      YOUTUBE introducing HTML5 Supported Videos

YouTube launched a simple demo of an HTML5-based video player.
HTML5 is a new web standard that is gaining popularity rapidly and adds many new features to your web experience. Most notably for YouTube users, HTML5 includes support for video and audio playback. This means that users with an HTML5 compatible browser, and support for the proper audio and video codecs can watch a video without needing to download a browser plugin.
Support for HTML5 is an early experiment, and there are some limitations. HTML5 on YouTube doesn't support videos with ads, captions, or annotations and it requires a browser that supports both the video tag and h.264 encoded video (currently that means Chrome, Safari, and ChromeFrame on Internet Explorer). We will be expanding the capabilities of the player in the future, so get ready for new and improved versions in the months to come.
To try it out, go to the HTML5 page via TestTube or visit this page and join the experiment. This will enable HTML5 video for your browser, provided that it's one of the browsers mentioned above and fits in with the parameters we already referenced. (If you've opted in to other experiments, you may not get the HTML5 player.) You can also enable Feather watch (visit http://www.youtube.com/feather_beta) along with HTML5 video for an even simpler, faster YouTube experience.

IPad does not support Adobe FLASH

One of the disappointing (if unsurprising) part of Apple’s launch of its iPad tablet computer was the absence of Flash, Adobe’s technology for web video and other media.

It looks like Apple is continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content publishers and consumers. Unlike many other ebook readers using the ePub file format, consumers will not be able to access ePub content with Apple's DRM technology on devices made by other manufacturers.  And without Flash support, iPad users will not be able to access the full range of web content, including over 70% of games and 75% of video on the web.
If you want to use the iPad to connect to Disney, Hulu, Miniclip, Farmville, ESPN, Kongregate, or JibJab -- not to mention the millions of other sites on the web -- you'll be out of luck.

      Firefox 3.6 - New Features

Mozilla released Firefox 3.6, the latest version of its popular browser.it includes a number of under-the-hood improvements, and a handful of changes that you might discover as you use it.

      Plug-in Check for Better Security

Firefox 3.6 can now detect whether any of your installed browser plug-ins (Flash, etc...) are out of date. This is importaant because Cybercriminals often use bugs in outdated versions of  some plugins--particularly Flash and QuickTime--to attack your PC

      Full-Screen Video

You can now watch certain types of videos in full screen with Firefox 3.6. If the video is in the Oog Vorbis format, you can right-click the video and select an option to see it in full-screen.
The downside to this feature, of course, is that it only works with certain videos,

      Under the Hood

Firefox 3.5 was a good deal faster than earlier Firefox versions. Mozilla claims that Firefox 3.6 is even faster, with improvements to JavaScript performance in particular, which should result in faster load times for Web pages and Web apps. Firefox also improves support for some of the latest Web design technologies, which should make it easier for designers to create better, more attractive sites.

      Skins Come to Firefox

Firefox Personas. Personas are basically interface skins that you can apply with one click, and they're actually pretty similar to the skins available for the Google Chrome browser. Mozilla has a gallery of personas at getpersonas.com that features over 35,000 designs to choose from.

Microsoft knows about zero-day flaw in September

A critical security vulnerability that hackers used to breach Google, Adobe and other large U.S. companies was disclosed to Microsoft last September, not last week as previously believed.
The software giant had intended to release a patch for the flaw in February, five months after learning about it, but had to speed up that plan and release it this week in the wake of news that Google and others had been hacked through the flaw.

Patch for zero-day flaw in Microsoft IE

A critical zero-day flaw in Internet Explorer was exploited as part of the attack on Google and other companies, according to both Microsoft and McAfee.
The flaw allows for a Web-based attack against IE 6 SP 1 on Windows 2000, along with IE 7 and 8 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. According to Microsoft's security advisory, the company has only seen active attacks against IE 6 so far.
The invalid pointer reference flaw allows for remote code execution, according to Microsoft, which means that viewing a malicious Web site could allow an attacker to execute any command on a vulnerable computer. Typically that would mean installing a Trojan or other malicious software. According to the bulletin, IE's Protected Mode on Vista and later versions of Windows mitigates the threat, which could also be leveraged by a banner ad.
According to Microsoft, “An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user. If a user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.”

Detailed Information available in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS10-002 (Published: January 21, 2010 and rated as Critical)

      Firefox 3.7 changed to 4.0

Mozilla has dropped the schedule of Firefox 3.7 and will release Firefox 4.0 instead of firefox 3.7 after Firefox 3.6. So Firefox 4.0 will come most probably at the end of this year or early 2011. Firefox 3.6, codenamed Namoroka. Development for this version started on December 1, 2008 and it is planned for release in early 2010. This release will use the new Gecko 1.9.2 rendering engine.Firefox 4.0 has been tentatively scheduled to use the Gecko 1.9.4 rendering engine and will offer a new user interface and multi-touch gesture support.

According to Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox.
Rather than add features to Firefox only in once- or twice-a-year upgrades, Mozilla will quietly insert some functionality via its regular security updates, which appear every four to six weeks. That means Firefox 3.7, which was slated for a second quarter release, has been dropped from the development schedule. We learned an awful lot about what slows down our schedule, and that will help us plan future releases.

      What If Microsoft Developed Twitter

      • Every tweet would be a maximum of 140 characters, but would need to download a 2Mb message, containing various XML markups and a ton of security services.
      • Add to that encryption for privacy concerns, authentication, server signatures, etc.
      • Oh, and it will require Silverlight, .NET, ActiveX, and Internet Explorer 8 to read, of course.
      • They would have come up with a new SDK technology once a year
      • You would have to sign an lengthy  EULA for each tweet you send out
      • You know, saying that the tweet you send is up to you, no one else is responsible for it, even if it kills your machine, or the machine of the people receiving it.
      • You would have to get used to “the blue tweet of death”

      • You couldn’t use Twitter on your Mac
      • The twitter URL would have been like
                  " http://www.twitter.com/askdjfha;sdkjfh@#$@#$,msdfasdf.asp/read "
      • Each upgrade (and many of the weekly security patches) would reset all your options to the defaults.
      • Your screen would go black and a window would pop up asking if you’re really really sure you want to send each and every message. “No really, are you sure?”
      • You’d be able to buy Twitter Pro which allows for 280 characters
