                AMD Fusion Media Explorer

This is AMD's 3D replacement for the less popular 2D Live Explorer .

                media explorer home

the AMD Fusion Media Explorer can turn your library into a living 3D collection. I was told that the number of active-motion video cells is dependent on the power of the graphics card, because hovering over one of the cells will play the item in a larger expanded window.Essentially, each item is being decompressed and played in its native resolution, and the cell creates a thumbnail-sized window. You can imagine the potential load this could create on a system. As the software allows this feature to be turned on or off, there won't be an issue on older computer systems or under-powered notebooks.

                FLOCK - Social Web Browser

FLOCK is nothing but an Enhanced Firefox browser

Reviews recommend Flock 2 for people who "live on the Web" because it has all the speed, security and options of Firefox 3 but builds in a blog editor, photo-uploader and big sidebar to keep current with social networking friends and RSS feeds. A horizontal photo bar shows thumbnails from photo-sharing sites. For those who love multitasking, this is a great browser choice, but for Windows users who just want fast, simple browsing, reviews recommend the minimalist Google Chrome.

                Advantages :
                • All the advantages of Firefox 3
                • Includes blog editor
                • Integrates social networking
                • Integrates photo sites
                Disadvantages :

                • Extra features take up screen space
                • Extras can be distracting

                  buying GRAPHICS cards

                  First try updating Your Drivers

If you're thinking of replacing your card because you're having problems running a certain game, make sure you have the latest version of the drivers for your current graphics card. You will find the latest drivers for your card available for download from the manufacturer's Web site.

                  Hardware Transform and Lighting

This has been a standard feature in game-oriented video cards for quite a few years, but there are still PCs around that don't have it. These are usually systems with Intel graphics integrated into the motherboard, commonly used in budget laptops and desktops designed for office use. If your desktop doesn't have hardware T&L and you have a graphics card slot available, adding a newer graphics card could be an option.

                  Power Consumption

Many cards designed for gaming require a considerable amount of power, and they often have additional power connectors on them because they can't get enough juice through the slot itself. They also require a relatively good power supply, especially for SLI and Crossfire systems with dual video cards. If you're upgrading to the latest high-end card, you may find yourself upgrading your power supply as well. Power requirements are usually stated in the graphics card's specifications.

                  Enhanced video playback:
Newer graphics boards have technologies--such as ATI's Avivo and nVidia's PureVideo--that enhance DVD playback, particularly at high-definition resolutions. Similar to what high-end DVD players do, Avivo- or PureVideo-equipped graphics boards can deinterlace images (remove artifacts) and scale them to fit your monitor.

                  Important:

                  Bus

Most PCs now have the faster PCI Express rather than the older AGP slots, but choose whichever interface your PC supports.

                  Chip Set

After the interface, deciding on a chip set is your next major decision.

                  Installed RAM

With more video memory, your graphics board can hold more image data, leading to faster rendering of textures and 3D graphics

                  Graphics Processor Clock Speed

While the clock speed of the graphics processor is a good overall indicator of how fast it will render 3D graphics, the high cost associated with top-of-the-line processors is no longer an absolute indicator of performance. The same holds true on the low end.

                  Monitor Ports

All new graphics cards have two display connectors for hooking up two monitors; and most have at least one DVI port. Still, for the maximum image quality on two LCD screens, you want to make sure you have two native DVI ports, though in a pinch a DVI port can connect to a VGA display if you have a DVI-to-VGA adapter (often included with the board itself).

                   Slots Occupied

Before you buy a huge graphics card, make sure you have the room inside your PC to fit it. Some cards take up the space of two PCI Express slots.

                  RAM Type and Speed

Graphics boards come with different flavors of memory--DDR2 and DDR3 being the two most common ones right now. The newest cards have an even faster DDR4 memory. While in theory DDR4 memory is faster than DDR3 memory, other factors on a board also affect performance. The same logic goes for RAM speed.

                  Google's Nexus One

Google's phone runs Android 2.1 which is pretty similar to what the Verizon/Motorola Droid runs (2.0.1) currently. The processor on the Google phone is certainly an update if it is a 1 GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm as has been reported. The Droid has a physical keyboard and the Nexus does not.
Google is merely planning to rearrange the entire wireless industry to its advantage, and perhaps in ways that benefit business customers, too.
The most interesting thing I've read about the Googlephone is the possibility that it will route all voice calls as VOIP via Google Voice.

                  Is MICROSOFT a thief..??

I came to know from another BLOG that Microsoft had unequivocally ripped off design and code from marginally successful micro blogging service Plurk.

Currently, the Microsoft microblog site reads something along the lines of "We regret to inform you that the service is temporarily not available due to system maintenance. Please visit the site again later. We apologize for the inconvenience."

A new flavor of Google Talk: the Labs edition, looks very similar to the Google Talk and has most of its features. The application doesn't support voice chat or file transfer, it's still Windows-only,
but it has some new features: it lets you launch Google Calendar and Orkut, while including notifications for Google Calendar events and Orkut scraps.
It uses WebKit to render some parts of the interface.

                  GOOGLE countdown

Here's a nifty little Google Easter Egg . If you go to the Google homepage and click the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button with no query entered, a countdown timer will appear below the buttons. As of right now it stands at 1685645, with each second ticking off the last number in that sequence.
This is the countdown timer for NEW YEAR....
To confirm this i've changed the system time and date to 1min less than jan 1st

the countdown ends at January 1 at midnight. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a payoff greeting wishing a new year when the timer hits zero

I think google adds it later..

Record Steps in Windows 7(used to to Reproduce a Problem)

In Windows 7 if you have any problems and you are not sure how to solve it then you can capture the steps to recreate the problem using in-built tool. This allows the user to send it as a single page with all the screenshots and steps to a friend who know how to solve it or to the customer support for any programs.
Go to Start and type Problem Steps in the search. (then open the "record steps to reproduce problem" in results)
The original location of this program is in control panel->troubleshooting.

                  "GO"- Programming Language

                  systems programming language
Go is open source and its syntax is similar to C, C++ and Python. It uses an expressive language with pointer but no pointer arithmetic. It is type safe and memory safe. However, one of its main goals is to offer the speed and safety of a static language but with the advantages offered by modern dynamic languages. Go also offers methods for any type, closures and run-time reflection. The syntax is pretty clean and it is garbage collected. It is intended to compete with C and C++ as a systems programming language.
                   Example:
                  package main

                  import "fmt"

                  func main() {
                    fmt.Printf("Hello,\n")
                  }

                    New google search interface

GOOGLE is working on a new project: the next generation of Google Search. This isn’t just some minor upgrade, but an entire new infrastructure for the world’s largest search engine.
In other words: it’s a new version of Google.

Google specifically states that its goal for the new version of Google Search is to improve its indexing speed, accuracy, size, and comprehensiveness. Here’s what they wrote:
“For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google’s web search. It’s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions. The new infrastructure sits “under the hood” of Google’s search engine, which means that most users won’t notice a difference in search results. But web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we’re opening up a web developer preview to collect feedback.”

Adding Universe and Multiverse repository in UBUNTU

By default, Ubuntu does not enable the Universe and Multiverse repositories. But they include some important programs and codecs, so it is highly recommended to activate them. There may also be non-Ubuntu sources that you might wish to add to your Ubuntu machine.

The repositories (of apt) are stored in a file called /etc/apt/sources.list
First you should create a backup of your existing sources.list file:
                    sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list_backup

Next you edit the sources.list file with an editor like GEdit.
                    sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

There is an incode documentation. Uncomment everything you need, especially the universe and multiverse repositories.

If you prefer to do it graphically with the apt-frontend Synaptic, there is a detailed manual with screenshots at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AddingRepositoriesHowto.

                    Change logon screen in UBUNTU

This brief tutorial will guide you through changing the Ubuntu login screen
you can download from  Gnome-look.org . Once you’ve found a login theme that you like, download it – but don’t decompress the tar.gz file. Just remember where you saved it.

From the Ubuntu menu, select System -> Administration -> Login Window

From the Login Window Preferences screen, select the Local tab. Then click the + Add button.
                    1. Navigate to the login screen theme that you downloaded, select it, and click the Install button.
                    2. Now your newly installed login theme will be listed along with the others. Select it (and make sure no others are selected) and click the Close button.
                    3. Save any open work you have, then log out of your current session. Your new login theme will appear when you have to log back in. That’s it!
